Last Saturday, the Warren-based band Mortisha's Secret moved one step closer to their ultimate goal by performing at Cleveland, Ohio's very own ODEON concert club. They were part of the second annual Cleveland Music Festival. Anyone who lives in Northeast Ohio knows that this is a huge deal! This club has attracted many national acts and it is considered an honor just to play that stage.
Their performance was one of about 250 bands at 8 different venues around the city over a three day concert event. Each band was required to sell tickets that would get music fans into any venue on any day to see whatever show they would prefer. The six highest ticket-selling bands got a chance to perform at a special showcase on Saturday afternoon at the ODEON. The showcase and many other performances were attended by A&R record executives from such labels as Columbia, Metal Blade, and 21st Century Entertainment. Club owners from such famous clubs as Nick's Fat City in Pittsburgh, The Agora, in Cleveland, Peabody's Downunder, in Cleveland, The Patio, in Indianapolis, and Top Cat's, in Cincinnati also attended.
Members Missy and Todd Shay burned through an incredible 45 minute set that featured mostly new material that will be featured on their new upcoming CD entitled, "Us Against the World" (to be released sometime in August). They also performed two favorites from their last CD ("For Those Who Have Waited Patiently...). Fans will get a chance to vote for their favorite band on the Cleveland Music Festival's website this week.
